Il truffatore di Tinder, docu-film uscito su Netflix pochi giorni fa, racconta la storia vera di Shimon Yehuda Hayut e della sua frode a danno di molte donne innocenti.
Tutti, chi più chi meno, siamo alla ricerca del grande amore: quella persona che ci comprenderà e ci farà sentire unici e speciali. Trovarla però non è facile: spessi ci sono circostanze e atteggiamenti che non ci permettono di avvicinarsi alla persona giusta. Per fortuna ci possono dare una mano le applicazione di dating on-line, tra le quali la più famosa è senza dubbio Tinder. Sfortunatamente anche in rete non mancano i rischi: non si sa mai infatti chi potrebbe nascondersi dietro un bel profilo. Il nuovo docu-film “Il truffatore di Tinder”, da poco disponibile su Netflix, parla proprio di questo.
Chi è il truffatore di Tinder
Il docu-film di Netflix racconta la storia di Shimon Yehuda Hayut, ragazzo israeliano di 31 anni salito agli onori della cronaca internazionale nel 2019 come “the Tinder Swindler“: il truffatore di Tinder appunto. Questo specialista delle truffe sentimentali, nel corso della sua “carriera”, è riuscito ad adescare decine di ragazze incassando nel processo circa 8,5 milioni di sterline, almeno secondo le stime effettuate dalle autorità che si sono occupate del caso: la polizia britannica, quella greca e quella norvegese.
Con lo pseudonimo di Simon Leviev, profilo falso creato ad hoc sulla nota app di dating online, l’uomo si spacciava per l’inesistente figlio del reale magnate dei diamanti Lev Leviev. Dopo aver individuato una vittima e aver stabilito un primo contatto tramite chat, il truffatore organizzava una serie di appuntamenti di lusso a base di caviale, giri in jet privato e cene al Four Season. Per rendere il tutto ancora più credibile aveva assunto anche falsi assistenti, partner commerciali fittizi e addirittura una finta guardia del corpo.
Lo scopo di questa messinscena era chiedere alle ragazze, dopo averle sedotte, i dati delle carte di credito o ingentissime somme di denaro. La scusa usata era che lui non poteva usare le sue per via della tracciabilità dei pagamenti. Questo lo avrebbe reso un bersaglio troppo semplice da trovare per certi trafficanti di diamanti sudafricani, suoi “fantomatici nemici”. Una volta ottenuti i soldi, questi servivano a finanziare le spese della prossima truffa in un ciclo infinito. A fermare questa catena sono state 3 delle sue vittime, che hanno denunciato i fatti alla polizia: Cecilie Fjellhøy, Ayleen Koeleman e Pernilla Sjohol.
Fine di un imbroglio
Grazie a questa segnalazione Shimon è stato arrestato in Grecia nel 2019, ma solo per essere entrato nel paese con un passaporto falso. Da qui è stato poi estradato in Israele, dove ha scontato solo 5 dei 15 mesi previsti dalla pena per buona condotta. Una volta uscito di prigione viene contattato da Netflix e può quindi partecipare alle riprese del documentario. Nel frattempo però Tinder ha bandito permanentemente Hayut dalla piattaforma, assicurandosi di bloccare anche tutti i suoi alias conosciuti.
Il truffatore di Tinder ha quindi concluso per sempre la sua carriera, ma non si è accontentato di andarsene in silenzio. Al momento Shimon è fidanzato con una modella israeliana e gestisce un’attività di consulenza online, come mostrato anche nel film. Continua anche adesso a professare la propria innocenza, sostenendo addirittura che le accuse contro di lui derivano soltanto da “un prestito tra amici finito male”. Nel frattempo le 3 ragazze si sono unite per aprire una pagina GoFoundMe. Un tentativo, quest’ultimo, di recuperare le circa 730mila sterline “prestate” ad Hayut e mai risarcite.
Un mondo di truffe online
Quanto raccontato dal film, purtroppo, non è un caso isolato. Il numero delle truffe affettive è molto più alto di quanto non si creda: è giusto di quattro mesi fa il caso del pallavolista Cazzaniga, coinvolto da quindici anni in una falsa relazione con una presunta fidanzata modella dalla malattia incurabile, a cui il campione ha donato 700.000 euro. In Italia, nel 2021, sono state circa trecento le denunce di raggiri di questo tipo alla polizia postale, senza contare tutte quelle rimaste sommerse. Negli Stati Uniti i numeri parlano addirittura a 21.000 denunce, con una perdita media di 2.600 dollari per ciascuna vittima.
La maggior parte di queste truffe avviene attraverso i social e le app di dating. Bastano infatti una foto falsa corredata da generalità inventate per creare un profilo fasullo con cui adescare le potenziali vittime. Chiunque può cascarci: donne, uomini, giovani e anziani senza distinzioni. Chi è alla ricerca di legami interpersonali è solitamente più incline ad aprirsi e a rivelare informazioni personali, rendendo più semplice a questi truffatori sfruttarne i sentimenti. La rete ha senza dubbio cambiato in maniera definitiva le nostre relazioni e il modo in cui ci approcciamo agli altri, purtroppo non sempre in maniera positiva, ma speriamo almeno che questo film riesca a farvi riflette sull’argomento.
